This October, the global GFRAS community will come together online for three days of exchange, learning and collective reflection on the future of agricultural extension and advisory services.
Co-hosted by the University of Florida (UF) and the University of the Free State (UFS), the 2026 GFRAS Virtual Annual Meeting will explore Practitioner-Led Science for Agricultural Extension Transformation, a practitioner-centred approach that puts extension professionals at the heart of knowledge generation. The meeting will create space to explore how knowledge generated through practice can become more visible, credible and influential, while strengthening the professionalisation of agricultural extension and advisory services.
Across three days, participants will hear from practitioners and institutions already applying such approaches (like the “Wearing Scientific Goggles” approach), explore the tools, partnerships, recognition mechanisms and resources needed to support practitioner-led knowledge generation, and share experiences and lessons from across the GFRAS network.
The meeting will also provide an important opportunity to look ahead together at the future of GFRAS, reflecting on the changing global development landscape, the resilience and achievements of the network, emerging hosting and funding arrangements, and priorities and partnerships for the years ahead.
